What’s your idea for flood-proofing Queensland in the future?
Submit your idea as an image, 200 words of text and an optional two-minute video and your school could win a new Apple iPad with Wi-Fi + 3G (16GB) valued at $729 plus other prizes. The competition is open to all schools across Queensland from prep to year 12 and entries have been extended until FRIDAY 9 SEPTEMBER 2011!
How to submit:
1. Go to: http://floodofideas.org.au/submit-your-idea
2. Add a URL link to your two minute video (optional), upload an image (A3 landscape) and 200 word description of the idea
3. Enter school name and class ID (e.g. Sunny Land State High School 9B) in ‘Submission By’ and ‘Your Name’ category
4. Add ‘School of Ideas’ under the ‘Tags’ category of the submission form

could you make the ideas go on for longer I didn’t know it was open
I say install backflow valves so water only flows one way and never back up to milton and rosalie. It was a dreadful experince that can be fixed with the use of one way valves and possibily pumps to pump water back into the river if there is over land water accumulating past the valves
You want to know my idea? Well there is only one that will work. You can simply not build a barrier over queensland or some other crazy idea that will cost millions or thousands of dollars. My idea is build a safe area. A mountain or a hill. Somewhere water will not reach and flood. A hill? A mountain?
