Every Park Has a Knoll

All parks should have a knoll that is above accepted flood levels. The knoll should be used to site critical (and expensive) park infrastructure including shelters, playgrounds, clubhouses and amenities. The knoll can be created by selecting a new park with suitable topography and / or using earthworks to create the knoll. For existing parks, new infrastructure should only be funded and constructed if a knoll has been created. The knoll also adds topographic interest to the park. “I love rolling down grassy knolls! And Brisbane could be known as the river city and the city of park knolls!”.

How do you propose to counteract the water displacement caused through filling on the floodplain? What effect will filling have on the existing flood flow paths?

  2. Dave says:

    I agree with Andrea,

Many parks are designed for flash flooding flow paths, to keep the water away from properties. This idea will likely cause more regular flooding to the surrounding houses.

The installation of hundreds of grassy knolls will no doubt encourage assasinations as well.

  4. Kaan says:

This could work:1-2 meter of positive elevation would need the negative elevated terrain in the same park. If this concept applied properly, I don’t think there would be flooding issues to the surrounding houses. At the end the adjustment on the terrain +-= 0
Maybe we should start to see functional purposeful (not only visual) tele-tubby landscapes in the flood plane parklands of Brisbane.

  5. PETER WALKER says:

Seems that some are confused by a flood plain and a flood way
A flood plain like Brisbane has a restriction downstream that backs up the water and it spills over as the level rises A flood way is pretty much a dry river A knoll in a floodplain has no significant effect on water level or flow

  6. Steven says:

Why not just build everything on a big lump of dirt? Why do parks get special consideration? I would think buildings in parks could handle water flowing through/over them.

  7. Amy says:

There are too many poo-pooers. I love this idea, and that Brisbane will become the city of knolls.

  8. as someone said the particular another d3 thread. The game got boring the final time thru it. I just cba without a inferno mode as theres no other to do other previously grind for gear, then what do i do with the gear? kill the same goods again? no place to go test the most recent gear in somekind of each one mass rvr either. the 1v1 PVP means very little imo 1v1 should be just included in proper PVP Diablo3 feels like an mmo (for numerous reasons) without the MASSIVE some of it. least i got a good months play out of it which is more than can probably be said of most new game titles.

yea, I would hate acquiring a monthly fee in addition to xbox live gold, but on the contrary, that money only visits microsoft, so I don’t know how an unauthorised developer would be get paid….
